I'm curious to understand the stake from home landscape on Farcaster. I understand it on twitter, but there's a different vibe here. Probably more knowledgeable and engaged user base. Do you stake your own Ether at home? Why or why not? What could convince you to do it?

Home staking with Besu/Nimbus since pre-merge

1. easy to follow documentation on EL/CL, been trying to run a docker based node(without staking)  from past 4 days and still not there yet.
2. require technical knowledge with curve
3. seed-phrase risk 
and InfoSec attack vector as you need to open network to public.

Solo staker since genesis. Moved a majority over to RocketPool post merge. Running Nethermind/Nimbus.

Home staking ever since you started putting out the first how-to videos on reddit in summer of 2020. 

Love it because it forces me to stay tuned in to what's happening in the staking landscape and provides learning opportunities.

I home stake. I’m not sure it’s worth it financially, but it has been rewarding as a learning experience. And if I want to hold eth with some yield it feels less risky overall than LSTs.

Like building cool things. Collector. Crypto since 2013.

I think the problem is that industry doesn't really care about the success of the chain, they only care about the success of industry 🤷‍♂️ I'm hoping something will improve.

I’m solo staking with the vast majority of my ETH. But all the airdrops coming with Eigen, etherfi and others are tempting me to exit some validators. Hoping projects start rewarding solo stakers soon.

This is where I'm supposed to be a good citizen and say I'm proud of you for doing what's right for you, but I'm secretly wiping away tears. Probably just allergies.

Moved from home staking to a mix of LSTs now. The tax advantages and ability to squeeze out extra yield is just too appealing.

What are the risks if running a minority client? Isn't is wise to stake? Otherwise you are hurt by inflation?

The risks I know are setup risk that due to overcomplication, brings up a validator 2 times and gets you slashed.

It's not hard to avoid.

Thanks for the response! You're wise and I agree that it's not wise to stake the majority of your Ether. Staking is right for some people, but not for everyone. Let me know if you decide to give it a go.. Right now you could stake on Rocket Pool with 10.4 Ether, soon on Diva with as little as 1 Ether.

Not enough ETH. I'll likely never have enough tbh, as I wouldn't be comfortable staking more than 25% of my ETH. It also still seems risky af

I stake from home with @rocket-pool. I do it because Ramana does it and I like to copy everything he does.

I stake from home with Rocket Pool. I wanted to learn more about Ethereum and make some money, and staking from home seemed way cooler than staking with a cloud service.

No I mean I'm not running the primary at home but the fallback is at home. Actually there's not really a distinction - let's just say one of the nodes my validator uses is at home.

I stake for @rocket-pool at home, at least with my fallback node.

I stake from home to keep the network decentralized, for the yield on old ETH without a big tax event, and I do whatever /r/ethfinance tells me to do. Nethermind+Lighthouse+Aestus+EigenLayer+Smoothly.
