For me, the mint-fee is too low at the moment. I think the already low earlier Zora fee was great. Not as much as a latte so affordable, but still enough to engrain the idea that art has value into the minds of the wider public. Now we're back to Web2 mind-set of content is free. That's not a good thing.

I think this is a very important point. It ingrains the idea that art has no worth. I understand that the price is based on a plan to have art more accessible to the masses that we all hope will one day join in but why is it always artists that have to pay this price? Everyone else involved gets their cut while artists have to play along in hopes of a payday some time in the future.

But it’s not free. It’s $0.35.

I’m not selling my photos for 30 cents. I’m arguably one of the best macro photographers in the world. So where do we go from here?

Would you still not sell it for $0.35 if 100K people wanted to get your photo?

Yes but until then, what do we do? I’m fully supportive of the idea of that coming but until then artists need to give work away. It’s a tricky position to be in. I love Rodeo but I’m particular about what I mint on there.

It’s a scale problem (for now) & definitely does not suit everyone. Artists in web3 today are pioneers and by definition they earn the most disproportionate rewards and have to pay a disproportionate price as well. It’s all art of the package of being early. Having said that, class of 2020s will be remembered for what they did or did not do to pave the way for the next generation of artists.

Yeah that’s fair. Being early isn’t easy. I’ll still mint and buy these cheaper pieces but it’s such a frustrating position to be in and so frustrating to see so many other artists struggling. Some days it’s good to vent about it even if there’s no good solution yet.
