For me, the mint-fee is too low at the moment. I think the already low earlier Zora fee was great. Not as much as a latte so affordable, but still enough to engrain the idea that art has value into the minds of the wider public. Now we're back to Web2 mind-set of content is free. That's not a good thing.

I think this is a very important point. It ingrains the idea that art has no worth. I understand that the price is based on a plan to have art more accessible to the masses that we all hope will one day join in but why is it always artists that have to pay this price? Everyone else involved gets their cut while artists have to play along in hopes of a payday some time in the future.

But it’s not free. It’s $0.35.

I’m not selling my photos for 30 cents. I’m arguably one of the best macro photographers in the world. So where do we go from here?

Would you still not sell it for $0.35 if 100K people wanted to get your photo?

I have more to say.. what other profession is expected to give of their time, effort and talent freely without being paid until their work is deemed to be of value? Sure, there are a few artists that make money now but have we really flipped the script? Van Gogh died poor but now his works are sold for millions. Has the art world changed since then or are the majority of us set for the same fate?

- Academics who peer review articles - Unpaid internships/apprenticeships - Free first service is a common tool for plenty of businesses to demonstrate value The root of it is that art is a luxury purchase & a minuscule amount of humanity is in the position to splurge on it (median worldwide daily wage is ~$10 and that’s including the west). Unlike Van Gogh, artists in web3 have all the tools at their disposal today to make real money from their art if they can make it happen. Imagine it being 100x where it is today. Thats when it’ll all make sense and that’s what keeps me going.

That’s what keeps me going too. Just felt like whinging about it today. After the whole wallpaper thing, I got frustrated. I’ve been a mostly unpaid intern for way too long.

Time will tell. I have the gm Farcaster piece that’s only asking the equivalent of $7. Can’t move it. It’s annoying.
