what's the best nitty gritty [cryptography] breakdown of how these social-login wallets actually work? if you use a google wallet via [any third party provider], does wallet access actually rely on the third party AND google?

cc @yuga @jayb My understanding is the google bit is just auth and generally the app + mpc provider each have a shard which can be combined to sign.

this is generally correct although the actual PK storage may be simple sharding or MPC, this varies by wallet provider

oh 2nd part of the q: if the wallet provider has some email auth flow, then you could recover the key that way. but if Google nukes your gmail, that’s over - unless the wallet provider & app allow you to add other recovery methods
