Somehow no one is talking about macOS soon having native support for Linux containers?? Absolutely huge for anyone using a desktop Mac to host services and move away from Docker and all the overhead it introduces.

wow incredible, this has plagued devops on osx for at least a decade (last time i touched a mac was 2015)

i feel like most projects don't even provide a dev container due to the poor osx developer experience, but coming from linux, id prefer to see the whole dev env trend to containers

I don't think so!

Docker on macOS is historically bad. This seems like a more direct use of resources via LXCs, not to mention optimized for the silicon. Docker feels kinda like "hey this is good enough glhf"

'using lightweight virtual machines' seems to imply the same kind of overhead tho
