Do you carry water/fuel while running? If so, do you prefer a hydration vest/backpack or a handheld bottle?

I stash bottles, I run with handhelds, but I don't do vests. I honestly haven't even given them a proper try - I just think with long mileage it will cause chaffing. Many marathons under my belt.
