i think govt/politics may become a/the high status thing for young people to go into again 

much of the most interesting and important problems of the agi era will be related to human coordination, systems design, governance etc.

i also think rising populism is a bit reflexive and gets more people to want to get involved in government

yea maybe it’s not literal government institutions but just ppl wanting to work on those problems in some capacity, which takes on new forms

interesting. could see it, but also feel like there's a huge distaste/distrust of any institituon, whether govt or corporation, among young folk

but the mamdanis and AOCs are kind of foreshadowing your thesis probably
