Bought my first ipad as a macbook replacement for travel as I'm mostly writing these days. Unless you are coding, feels like it can actually replace everything else. Still finding navigating it a bit clunky, but otherwise, it works well.

Yeah. Plugging in another monitor too and realising I can separate all the apps was a surprise. Haven't kept up with updates, so that was a surprise.

The split screen function was a huge level up.

Basic work stuff is same as on a Mac: email, Safari browsing, notes, reminders. For work I write small-ish programs in Python and for that I use the Pythonista app. This is connected to Working Copy (iOS Git client) for version control. For heavier dev stuff I use a Digital Ocean VPS accessed via Blink terminal app.

I’ve gone 100% iPad since a few years back, also for coding! It takes a bit of work to create the right workflows, but to me it’s so much nicer than macOS!

Still have yet to run into a con that isn't just being unfamiliar with the ux over macos. Unless you're coding, it's great. Still wondering about other production (like audio and video production). Will test when I get there.

Humm… been hearing a lot of people pivoting to ipad!

Would you recommend? What have been the pros and cons so far?

I tried replacing my MacBook but alas the desktop experience on an iPad is very much clunky and not at all useable. I personally use my iPad for drawing and MacBook for everything else like 3D design, figma, video editing, etc that an iPad simply can’t do.
