Reflecting on hard times past. I got my first job in the 2008 recession because the guy who owned the company wanted to fuck me, which is sadly not something I can run back (I didn’t know this until I was deep into the job of course, I thought I got it on my merits, I was an idiot)

My first startup (I was CTO), our second biggest seed check came from someone who obviously wanted to date my cofounder (CEO). Actually the biggest check also came from another such person. She ended up dating the first one for a while, which contributed to killing our startup. đź«

To be clear, I mostly agree with @samantha that a bag is a bag, and also that it's important to discover/know our worth and not undersell. Sometimes it's just not worth it. Not sure I would have done my first startup too differently, I've always felt that I learn a lot more from failures than riding out a boring success.
