Encryption isn't enough anymore. We need decentralization + encryption. Listen to our CTO @nickmolnar share our progress on XMTP, our plans, and questions moving forward. Never been a better time to join us, we are fully open and would love feedback.

What do you mean? Genuinely curious to know specifics. We've spent so much time on limiting metadata and using MLS to protect against sender and receiver anonymity - and so much more... https://community.xmtp.org/t/xmtp-now-with-secure-and-private-group-chat-built-with-mls/666 Whatever you're thinking I'd love to understand.

Xmtp needs a wallet address, which is universal. Unless something changed, this is a big problem.

Was a big problem, great call out- not anymore. This XIP is literally getting released in the protocol this week. https://community.xmtp.org/t/xip-55-passkey-identity/874 You can use the network with no global identifier, and simply a passkey. Then you can associate that with any wallet, identity, public or private.

Cool, but why not derive a new address from mnemonic per contact or group?

Not sure I understand, If you derive some new address per conversation, how does anyone know who they are talking to? We are actually doing a version of hide my identity so you can connect and protect your info, as well as being able to connect to external identities too. Curious to know what you’re specifically asking as this is very nuanced and we’ve thought a lot about this too.
