the way my mother talks about herself makes me feel sad 

then i wonder if my own approach to life is a retaliation, a deep will to "not be like that"

are my actions, my desire to step into my own power and take control over my life, reactionary or innate?

i can only speak about my own similar circumstances and experiences, and i feel the more i try to not become like my mother the more i become. the only thing that has helped is trying to not Interpret it too much (super hard)

i don't think its all black and white though, i believe its innate but at some percent reactionary but thats unavoidable i think, our experiences influence us to a degree
