While PB clearly needs improvements, being here is an opportunity and a choice, not slavery. I got a PB in 3(?) weeks, knowing nobody on day 1. For those who want it, it can be done.

Things were different. PB wasn’t a thing in feb. in fact the implementation of power badges got me shadowbanned almost right away for seemingly liking too many posts too quickly. I was invisible for a month or more. Now ‘not possible’ and steps are being taken but just because you did it in 3 weeks means nothing.

You’re misrepresenting the effort there. Simply any response won’t do. Otherwise lots of bots would have power badges, no?
So you could ask for a recipe for steamed peanuts and I could reply “I like outer space because armpits smell bad” and get a power badge in 5 days?

Right, that’s kind of my point. Well, unless as another mentioned, it was a ‘nefarious’ or at least ‘motivated’ situation. Engaging with that comment would be unlikely. Though, that’s making some assumptions in ways I’d care not to.

I would assume that there must be some correlation in regards to whether the response is liked by the og poster. In your example i doubt the og poster would engage with the response.

To be clear I’m not suggesting to be signaling an answer to the question, simply trying to ‘read the feedback’ between the lines- ‘it still needs work’ is the biggest it seems. Which is ofc fine and to be expected. Do I think that an individual mute function and a token gate could work, sure but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So what's your proposal, to be clear? Free-for-all and let clients filter but not publish what they're filtering (coz that's basically what a PB is, it's a public filter output)

Yeah you could if the other power badge users agree to gaming the algo. It’s easier it’s just to reply to stuff you like and funny memes so people reply.
