this is certainly easier on farcaster but this can happen anywhere now thanks to crypto no? if you posted an app on X someone could rip off your logo/screenshot and launch a token on pump fun or mint it as an NFT. It used to happen all the time with right click saved copies of apes or other high profile NFTs. idk how much of this is this platforms fault vs the harsh reality of: - there are poor people with enormous upside to even making $5 off of shit like this - crypto is still full of extractooors - people like to profit off of talent like yours (crypto or not) it's depressing really. my main point is i'm not sure how much "this platform" is to blame.

running with the nft example, artists have leaned into tokenizing their work in large part because it makes it super easy to identify fugazi copy mints appcoins are an nft-like tool for mini app builders imho figuring out the right way to lean into them is a thing at first not unlike artists grokking how tokenizing their work at first was a thing, but imho it's an inevitable thing that provides more benefits to creators (and their communities) in the end

yeah the problem is some of us aren't selling anything with our mini apps. NFTs were meant to be sold by artist. could our mini apps be monetized? sure. but that brings with it a lot of responsibilities we've not all signed up for. I think we've over tokenized media ( text, videos, images ) where it's broken through to a point where people can put it onchain with little expectation of pumping to bring value to holders. apps aren't there yet so folks like myself and Kasra have little interest in coining. I will be a follower here and coin my mini apps when I don't have people like megathrust breathing down my neck as to why I devalued their token with an app decision I made while coding on my couch in my underwear. It's not that serious, but app coins are taken too seriously atm.

lol'ing at that visual imagery 😂😂 nfts weren't meant for anything beyond digital kitty breeding lol or at least to distinguish digital ownership of one kitty from another it's true anything tokenized can be monetized but i think we do a disservice by conflating the two things, as close as the relationship may be thinking through ways tokenized assets (incl coins, nfts) can work with apps is maybe a better jump off point for mini app creators it took a while for most artists to start making the leap to tokenize their work too but i think we can all agree it was inevitable in retrospect those early adopters helped shape the ethos and spirit of minting for other artists and now crypto art is in the moma mini apps devs are in a similar place now imho. who will be looked back at as the xcopy, coldie, hackatao, robbie barrat et al of appcoins? who will help lead by example and show that its possible?
