38 minutes from launch to some douchebag coining my app against my will and not with me getting any of the benefits why do i build on this platform again ? would love actual answers

hey dude we love your work and love seeing you on the feed on a regular basis; we cannot stop users from doing for example what this guy did because there is no inherent tie to your mini app other than the name; part of what’s cool ab clankers is that the emphasis is on the message sender and/or verifying stuff in the feed, no one would trade this or mistake this for being a coin associated w you or your work because it isn’t coming from you or your FID also this token doesn’t even have a chart so I’m not sure anyone’s traded it

this is certainly easier on farcaster but this can happen anywhere now thanks to crypto no? if you posted an app on X someone could rip off your logo/screenshot and launch a token on pump fun or mint it as an NFT. It used to happen all the time with right click saved copies of apes or other high profile NFTs. idk how much of this is this platforms fault vs the harsh reality of: - there are poor people with enormous upside to even making $5 off of shit like this - crypto is still full of extractooors - people like to profit off of talent like yours (crypto or not) it's depressing really. my main point is i'm not sure how much "this platform" is to blame.

happened to me too for farpoker... fwiw I don't really think it's a farcaster issue, the account created a fake twitter profile and token there. if anything FC quickly nerfed the account whereas twitter took a while

I feel your frustration. The same thing happened to me a few weeks ago. This is the nature of participating in a permissionless protocol where everything is public by default. The clients/apps are also positioning themselves as a casino business, so can’t depend on them to stop the nonsense. It’s also just crypto/degen culture in general.

I love your work! but to be anti-coining-your-work in general but then to complain that someone else coined it is a bit logically inconsistent, no? definitely one of the downsides of open permissionless rails. just coin it at the very least to protect your brand and work Clanker (who i’d vouch for) or otherwise

it sucks. only silver lining I can think of for this behavior is that most people just ignore. and I think this scam is even harder to execute on Farcaster vs Twitter.

not apples to apples, but can probably take a page from digital artists anyone can right click save or copy-mint a work of digital art, but when an artist mints their work (as a 1/1 or infinite mint) their signature stamps the legitimacy of that work we created @farstore because we believe all mini apps should have appcoins that work for and are launched by the mini app creators themselves folks can try and front run with their own coins, but if it isn't *the* coin created by you hey shouldn't matter

this is the exact reason I haven't shared any screenshots, name, or relevant details about the game I'm building. I'll just wait for launch and we'll see how the community picks it up. Definitely don't get the pre-launch excitement, but at least no one is gonna create a rug or steal the idea.
