the trouble is the only sustainable returns (actual revenue generating application) investors have seen are the tokenized defi projects. and the founders that they work with are ‘in it for the tech’ and like messing with wild algorithms and novel smart contract systems. the tech is already there now: you’ve got erc20 tokens. the big wins here are in making it *insanely easy from a ux perspective* to use them in the context of an actual software application—most of which has nothing to do with financialized assets or crypto trading. there’s a fair question of monetization strategies, but like with original saas companies, the exact revenue strategies will be sorted out after you build an exceptional product experience.

sovereign p2p economies my dudes. tokenized rwas is just more hyperfinancialization that still needs permission from the state. web3 social is mostly fake and monetizing your relationships is super cringe. prediction markets are neat but don’t really do much to return sovereignty back into the hands of the people.

we just released v1.0 of %fund. sovereign crowdfunding using urbit for self-hosted front ends, off-chain comms, and (coming soon) a p2p subjective reputation graph. if you aren't on urbit yet, you can onboard with just an email at tocwexsyndicate.com, or if you already have an urbit planet, just run `|install ~tocwex %fund` in the dojo to install today. and if you have an urbit star and are curious how you can monetize your digital clout, you can do that too: https://warpcast.com/tocwex/0x725ca8cc

ok, made our way onto farcaster and are seeing this now so we can chime in here about the way you earn. as a star using %fund, you have elevated privileges to serve as a ‘trusted oracle’. urbit planets come to you with service requests to take on task of judging the completion of the terms of a given crowdfund, and in exchange you get a cut of the milestone payouts. how big your cut is, though, is negotiated with your project worker in advance. perhaps you bring a lot of clout or credibility to a project, or can charge a high premium on your fairness as a judge. maybe you have a formal dispute resolution system and often side with funding contributors to refund contributions made to campaigns ‘completed’ in bad faith…

seems like there needs to be better sybil resistance. hard to do with an infinite namespace and flat network hierarchy.

...and the service (that's legacy 'software as a service' for you), into "software provider" and "service provider", %fund provides greater optionality to market participants about the terms under which they raise funds, assess work completion, and settle economic exchange.

we are building `%fund` because we believe communities deserve to have tools that hew to 'local' standards, not the expectations of megacorp platform developers or payment processing agreements. by unbundling the role of "platform", where a company provides both the software...

additionally, /urbit "star"-level identities (and higher), will find they have access to a new potential revenue stream: serving as a 'trusted oracle' to assess work completion and approve milestone payouts while taking a pre-negotiated service fee.
