Has anyone with a star tried this 👇🏾 I keep thinking about buying a second star to try it (since prices very cheep 🐣 now) but wondering if participating stars are collecting a *yield* 👀

ok, made our way onto farcaster and are seeing this now so we can chime in here about the way you earn. as a star using %fund, you have elevated privileges to serve as a ‘trusted oracle’. urbit planets come to you with service requests to take on task of judging the completion of the terms of a given crowdfund, and in exchange you get a cut of the milestone payouts. how big your cut is, though, is negotiated with your project worker in advance. perhaps you bring a lot of clout or credibility to a project, or can charge a high premium on your fairness as a judge. maybe you have a formal dispute resolution system and often side with funding contributors to refund contributions made to campaigns ‘completed’ in bad faith…

…or maybe your policy is “i’ll approve anything you submit to me, and i charge basically nothing”. the idea here being that building for the future is hard. not everything can be programmatically specified in advance. but with stars as trusted leaders in a community, it can be up to them to handle the edge cases, the bad faith actors, the sybil attacks, or any other attempts at programmatic manipulation of settlement terms. v1.0 just went live on friday and is ready for people to use today! a more detailed run-through of how all this works is available at docs.tocwexsyndicate.com, or for anyone who doesn't have an urbit yet you can easily sign up with nothing but an email at tocwexsyndicate.com where we’ll drop you right into a running urbit.
