Here are the most common answers I hear:

A. Operational burden of not knowing what it's for/how it will be used

 B. Uncomfortable with legal risk

C. Not wanting to be distracted from

All of the above + it’s a one way door. Can’t take a token back. Makes it hard to pivot / fail unless you just accept potential financial damage of folks as mental thing to deal with

And if someone says incentivize community etc their just talking need of funds

Unless you really have a model which ey business -> dividends is the proven one (you can do this with token)

See Farcaster, base. They incentivize with USDC, ETH (Base grants)

1) clarity on what to do with it besides having it just lay there. It could be equity in the project or rev share to just lay there but legal entities are meh if you’re not bigger already and rev share only matters if there’s revenue else fee switch model like DEFI?

2) mental. I don’t want to be affected by stories of people loosing money on it potentially. Chances are high even if coin does well over all

3) what does it bring besides maybe some funds? You can’t relaunch a token (many did on rebrands but that’s meh imo)

4) how would you structure pivots ? Keep token or new one? No token for pivot?

what benefits would you need for it to outweigh the cons?
