John (1937 – 2024) RIP
For 30 years, I was blessed to know him.
Since my wife was 12, he stood by her side as a stepdad, but in truth, he was so much more.
He carried himself with quiet grace.
Never angry. Never complaining.
Always there when you needed him.
When my wife and I were in college, his home was always open to us.
To our kids, he was their third grandpa, and he wore that title with pride.
He lived long enough to see my grandson born, and to celebrate that joy with us.
This summer, when I said goodbye, I knew in my heart it was the final one.
But his spirit, his kindness, and his strength will live on in every one of us.
