I found this question funny. I guess to each political party, we will now always be in a place where "free speech is under threat" when the other party is in power.

have you ever looked into FIRE? Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression? there’s an interview with their leadership that gives a good history of each side using free speech to attack the other and defend itself. you nailed it.

yeah freedom isn't as simple as it would seem, it's all relative. in this case, from what I've seen, folks on X want freedom from "cancel culture", DEI, "political correctness", etc. and folks on Bluesy want the freedom to only see what they want and hide everything else, hence their focus on moderation and customized feeds

Only ever more present now that speech is also kind of being extended to algorithmic speech/reach and social media runs our lives
