I remember having to take a class I was subbing for on a field trip to the zoo. It was all around sad, until I came to the leapord pen. This poor creature was running at full speed, leaping, lunging as high as it could up a concrete wall. It was the lowest point, and the most obvious escape route, but it fell about a meter shy, scraping the wall with its claws on the way down. And as I watched, it did it again, and again, and again… and judging by the state of the concrete, that’s *all* it had done for years.
Absolutely heartbreaking. I never want to go to a zoo again. 0 reply
