ehh i unfollowed NIK a while back because he is always trying to dunk on openai and dick rides elon to the max-- i think his answer was equally as disingenuous, like what does nerfing o3 even mean, was the context sized reduced?

yeah this guy has been there 6 months working specifically on "model behavior" and saw a chance to be a tweetstar.

But this is a bad faith answer to "is o3 nerfed?"

i'd assume you're right but based on phrasing they're probably not technically wrong regarding weights

yeah like I re-ran the prompts I've been running and they get very different outputs now

80% discount on a model like o3 doesn’t make sense to me. I immediately had the same idea, that they’ve uber nerfed it.

Could make sense since they also announced o3 pro, and are reallocating compute to that.

Maybe some marketing driven lobotomy to make o3 pro shine even more on the evals
