Chat — when did blatant racist rhetoric like this become acceptable? That too, from a *checks notes* Partner at a top-tier VC firm. This is a genuine question (I would truly appreciate counterpoints or any opinions that further meaningful dialogue). I’ve publicly criticized Mamdani’s policy platform (as many have) but positioning lying as a *virtue* of both his culture and Islam is disgusting. Rent freezes are a bad idea, but I don’t think Islam is to blame? Bernie Sanders also supports rent freezes and he’s Jewish? Is backlash—and I’m talking specifically about people who have a platform/voice—contained more so because they: - generally agree with this sentiment - don’t agree but think cultural/religious slander is okay in a political context - don’t agree but feel it’s not worth speaking out

My guess is it's a mix of 1. there's some sort of group chat insider definition of "islamist" that does not include all muslims but includes those they deem on a crusade to destroy America 2. people are afraid to speak up and lose access to capital 3. people are accepting of racism right now
