I had o3 do some research and it’s giving me very different advice than my doctor…. I trust o3 and all the paper citations more.

Care to elaborate? I'm interested where we docs are failing such that people prefer AI (i don't blame them, tbh)

Specifically for scar prevention I’m given blanket “just don’t workout for 2 weeks after surgery” advice from my doc But o3 is able to give me very specific advice given what sports I play and how scarring works (and it’s more like a 4 week process)

o3 also recommended a type of incision that minimized scarring that I was able to get my doctor to promise to do. She then messed it up and didn’t tell me, but I checked with o3 and literature and she did indeed do a different incision type.

That's disappointing to hear. The specialists SHOULD have good advice on scarring and surgery. I hope the procedure otherwise went well I frequently go look things up when I don't know and have phrases I use that are unintimidating to patients "I need to go look at the literature" or similar. Sometimes the literature is legit medical literature but often it's google or AI because I've just blanked on something and they do a good job triggering my brain back to the answer Pro Tip: patients don't like their doctor googling things in front of them
