TIL: monitors in 2025

After donating my old monitors to a computer museum (literally), I needed to research replacements. Ideally I want a single monitor - I'm a "run everything in full screen and switch windows kinda guy". I also want to get back into photography. When I mapped out all the variables, it was immediately obvious why Apple sells 27" 5k displays at the top of the range.

it's incredible but should cost $3,500 at most

I wasn't familiar with the Pro Display XDR so I looked it up... yeah OK now I see what it didn't turn up in my searches 😂

the studio display is a great value. you're smart for not having the Pro Display XDR on this list

I had my eyes on an Apple monitor, but they are quite pricey

Literally just finished setting up my BenQ PD2739S! First impressions are great so far but its literally only been 5 minutes 🤣 

The ASD was the ￼clear second choice but as a Linux curious person I didn't want to make a regrettable purchase years later.

Sad that more monitors aren't 16:10 or equivalent taller aspect ratios
