People want to resist authoritarian overreach and protect the rule of law by… *checks notes*…. voting for Trump?

Maybe there’s a roundabout argument that the next few years of crypto development are crucial for long term freedom, but that seems like a stretch. 

Much more honest to say it’s about the bags.

not a binary issue along party lines. we’ve increasingly seen the horseshoe theory materialize. many find themselves suddenly w/o a party.

it’s really where one will accept the inevitable overreach. the system produces trash options. we fight among ourselves but few of us meaningfully “win” after elections.

i don’t know how we’re going to dig ourselves out of here w/o collaboration. it frightens me how difficult it is for people to talk and listen to people with whom they don’t agree. we’re not immune to how information is weaponized against us regardless of whether we’re aware or not.

and this is not the ultra-rich. i am reasonably comfortable in the grand scheme of things, but stability is very fragile. i look around me and i just don’t know who’s, like, made in the shade right now.

i’m not crypto-rich enough for this stuff to really make a huge difference to me, but i can understand it.

this thing about bags… the current economics are v. dire. crisis has been looming and the Fed has long outlived its usefulness. depending on how grave the perceived threat, it is understandable that people would want to accumulate enough to opt out of the USD system for self-preservation.

that is to say, we (collectively) are not meant to find and see each other under the current system, but we ought to try

Yeah, obviously there are many issues at play in our country, but I think the effect our physical space has on our mental is underrated. Suburbia feeds the doom loop of social isolation and phone addiction that has wrecked our political discourse.

there was an image @mcbain posted a while back of suburban houses being organized so nobody looks at anyone, when the houses could point at a common space for more community.

it made a lasting impression (but i can’t find it!)

We’ve all grown farther apart, physically and mentally. My favorite boogeyman is the destruction of cities and towns in favor of car-centric sprawl. We need diverse neighborhoods, ppl need to walk down the street and smile at their neighbors and realize they’re good ppl. Kids need to roam free in the streets.
