Calling yourself an “atheist” or “agnostic” doesn’t excuse you from grappling with life’s great mysteries. It’s a negative definition, like saying, “I’m not a wooly mammoth.” You need a value system for the journey. Otherwise, the algorithms will upload one into you.

Grappling with life's mysteries is the point. I enjoy that there is still so much left to discover.

Science is your algorithm, nature is your god. Religion is man’s attempt to replace nature with himself, at which he has been remarkably successful across all colours and creeds.

even if one believes in nothing, they still ultimately believe in nothing as god, the god of the void, and becomes the organizing value of one’s life whether they know it or not

Very true, and yet sadly many people are easy fodder for the algo around this topic. It’s banking on the lowest common denominator, and those with binary thoughts processes.
