my boyfriend now, who at the time had just joined our school, had a really good educational foundation. he was (and still is) incredibly brilliant. for the first time, i saw someone i wanted to be like

i admired him but we didn’t get along at first. he was rough. he played a lot while i was the complete opposite, quiet and reserved. also, he loved football and i didn’t. yet at the end of each school day, we’d play ball together. i needed to get his attention one way or the other lmfao 

he was so brilliant that our (then) math teacher would seek his validation after every class, like they’d literally ask him if their workings were correct lmfao.

time passed and somehow we got close lmfao. science was right, opposites do attract

anyway, we became close pals. we would conduct speed math tests every chance we got. he always beat me. the following school year, when it was time to choose the head boy, i was made senior prefect while he was appointed assistant. 

then our love story began

something happened and we had to change houses. when we moved to a different location, which was a little farther from the school i attended, my boyfriend, who had been appointed assistant senior prefect, had to step in for me. the entire time i was head boy, i arrived at school late on most occasions, but it wasn’t a big issue since the school authorities understood my circumstances.

as time went on, we studied together, sometimes with other boys, because there had been a mass failure the previous school year. a class of 40 had been reduced to 20, i think.

at the end of each school day, i’d go to his house to rest a bit before embarking on the journey to my own. that was when i met his siblings. he had a brother and a sister, both older than him. it was then i realized that intelligence can be hereditary.

in 2017, he left our school to write his waec in a different school while i remained in the school for mine. we lost touch and weren’t in contact
