All the ways I’ve used GPT to raise my rescue dog, Hugo 🐶 A guide for dog parents who love their pets and use AI like a superpower: 1. Adoption Prep I had questions before I even met him: • What to ask the shelter • How to know if I’m ready • How to prep my home GPT helped me walk into that shelter with clarity & peace. 2. Health + Recovery Hugo came home after major dental surgery & neutering. I asked GPT: • How to soothe him without a bath • How to safely clean his blanket • What meds like Gabapentin or Meloxicam actually do 3. Building Trust He’s older. Soft-pawed. Quiet. I asked GPT how to read his behavior: • Was he a stray? • Is he partially blind? (He is.) • What does “lenticular opacity OU” mean on his chart? GPT translated medical notes and helped me translate his energy.

4. Comfort & Enrichment From brushing routines to finding non-food toys (because… roaches), GPT helped me: • Choose safe enrichment tools • Write Hugo a “pawsitive affirmation” list • Create a voice-based comfort system when I’m quiet but he needs reassurance 5. Travel & Carriers I asked GPT to: • Find a pet carrier he can stick his head out of • Tell me if something used on FB Marketplace was safe to use • Cross-check airline policies We’re still deciding on a sling or backpack 🤔 6. Everyday Joy Hugo fell asleep while I was brushing him the other day. I asked GPT: “Does that mean he trusts me?” Answer: Yes. And then it gave me more ways to love him even better. TL;DR: GPT didn’t raise Hugo. But it absolutely helped me show up for him. With less Googling. With more peace. With more presence.
