Gotta say.. @aboutcircles has some of the worst comms I've ever seen so far. If there are issues with the network, a simple "We've identified an issue and are working on it" post would go a long way. Asking users for $100 on day 1, then sompletely ignoring legit questions and issues, is not a good look.

Yeah there's an issue where existing users aren't able to invite others due to some out-of-hand arbitrage bots. Understandable, but @aboutcircles is refusing to acknowledge the issue or reply to people who are looking for help. Not cool.

If this is the only way to create a profile, then it sounds like there isn’t a way to join right now. I could be wrong.

You can join and create a profile, but your abilities are limited until you get an invite. The circles team was apparently handing them out but I don't know of anyone else who can send them rn.

Interesting. I’m curious (but it just hit me actually) about how arbitrage bots could mess up inviting people. I see what they’re going for, but communication would be key in that situation I’m thinking.

Basically they have arb bots to equalize the value of Circles across the network. Which makes sense in theory. But in practice, it means that every time users mint their own circles, the bots then swap those circles for other peoples' circles (only those the user trusts), leaving the user with 0 of their own circles. This is an issue because inviting new members costs 100 of *your own* CRC, which you probably don't have because the bots have swapped them all away. Also hearing lots of people complaining that their tradeable balance goes to 0, myself included. So it's basically all broken.

If I remember reading this correctly, wasn’t the point of circles to make money between users easier and ultimately less expensive? The practice seems counterintuitive. I suppose I will wait and see then.
