I wonder if you could make a safe non-money version by having people wager things like likes and reposts like Amp, but instead of paying for the engagement it’s “beat me at a game of poker for a repost of your cast.” 

Would make it virally useful while possibly skipping over a lot of gambling regulation. (Not legal advice- “likes” on social media have been argued as “some nominal value” in some jurisdictions so still a grey area.)

maybe, but i think money is more fun. trying to figure out how to do it in the right way.

involving money is also highly regulated and sometimes, highly illegal. talk to a lawyer before publishing this. I'd hate for you to get into trouble over this...
