Berry season is the best. 

I love all berries, but blueberries and raspberries the most. Blueberries don't usually take well on the soil we have, so raspberries it is.

Yes, currants. We have red and black ones. Black ones are not ripe yet. Red ones are always a winner, though they are a PITA to pick. We usually pick them, wash, then into the freezer.

My mom is heavy into berries. They are an integral part of her "cancer diet".

Oh it's not that hard to grow. But due to their shape/nature, it's a bit cumbersome to pick. They are tasty though. 

Mom is doing well. She had cancer in the 80s and the late 2000s. Doctors said she had 6 months to live. She went hc on the diet (basically cut all sugar, eating cottage cheese, flaxseed oil and berries for breakfast every day), and she's still kicking. So all good. But yeah, f cancer.

It's one of the only berries that can grow here that I dont grow. Mostly, I think because I've never eaten them, and im not familiar with them enough to drive me to grow some. Im sorry to hear your mom has cancer. Fuck Cancer!!
