Why bother with labubus when furbies exist? At least hey had chaotic evil energy. Labubus just have pure consumerism.

To follow up.. my intention wasn't to prove you wrong on the Furbies. More that brands want so desperately for these things to remain a consumer shitshow forever (obviously), as this unlisted video shows lol. My guess is that the weirder spirit of these consumer objects probably exists alongside their popularity, dependent on the owner. After the critical mass of consumer mindshare has faded, that weird/artistic/nostalgic/organic character remains. The distillation of culture from consumption I suppose. /end yap

haha oh well this is a loosely held opinion but largely i think furbies had at least the weird going for them (even if it was forced) and they were in a way a "other" uncontrollable thing. labubus seem to be one of those dubai chocolate things, heavily kol pushed until people believed they need them to be cool and people go crazy over them. in a way all is reduced to an aesthetic and those just go faster and faster - nothing sticks, i doubt labubus will outlive the fast fashion cycle (altho the plastic will)
