GM Degens, I know the recent bans didn’t sit well with everyone. We used a rule-based approach to target sybils, but it’s a tough battle, and we’re just two people. If you got caught in the crossfire, I’m sorry. There was collateral damage, but we also hit a lot of big farmers. These decisions aren’t easy, but they’re made for the community’s long-term health. If you’re feeling discouraged, I get it. Tipping was meant to be fun—sharing memes, onboarding new users—not a paycheck. Let’s bring back that energy: meme, create, and enjoy the space without stressing over prices. Moving forward, we’ll act on community reports and evidence instead of broad rules. Policing isn’t fun, but without it, some ruin the game for everyone. Let’s keep it fun—don’t use $DEGEN to pay rent. Create, share, and help us go viral.

So you are the ultimate definer of what is what? A diumviratum is totally coherent with decentralization. Are you sure you are sitting well within yourself?

I get where you’re coming from, but up until now, I believe I’ve brought a lot of value to the community. Some decisions had to be centralized, and I think that’s why we’ve been able to accomplish so much in a short time. DAOs are great, but they do have their shortcomings. I understand the frustration and that you’re viewing this from an ideological perspective, but we’re making decisions based on what’s best for the project and the realities we’re facing—not everything can be fully decentralized. For example, if we held a vote on what to do with the treasury and the majority wanted to just distribute it to everyone on Farcaster, that might be decentralized and democratic in theory—but would it be what’s best for the Degen community? Probably not. It’s also why most companies have CEOs who aren’t democratically elected (except through shareholders, technically)—it’s just how effective organizations tend to function.
