I'm interviewing engineers. 

The amount of them who say "I don't use AI in my workflow", or "I tried copilot and it wasn't good so i don't use it" blows my mind.

We are so early. 

If you're a dev, *use AI*.

Honestly, I think a lot are afraid to admit it as if it's a weakness. I remember this happening when stackoverflow hit the scene too. 

But it's a superpower.

I have sourcers who have early convos are clear out stuff like location, startup vs big co mentality and resume.

Then I do a screen which is a gut check where I ask behavioral questions and I always throw in a “what’s your thoughts on AI and what tools do you use?”

What’s your pre screen process prior to a working project in this case? How do you vet the basics? Pure convo?

People ask me if I vibe code and I always do a double take. IMO it would be irresponsible not to vibe code as much as I can.

By the time some of them realize they need to use AI their jobs would be taken by someone who already spent time mastering AI.

Have you considered some people actually like writing code?

Have you considered that they might not be willing to admit how much they rely on these tools, perhaps because they fear being dismissed as prompt engineers?
