Collectors are willing to pay 3$ to mint your art but you only get 1$ from it Iāve āsoldā more than 1k pieces on Zora. People spent 3000$ but i didnt even earn half of it.. Isnt the blockchain supposed to get rid of the middle man..?

Yeah alright, but my point is: Collector pays 3$ Creator gets 1$ Dont you think artists should get the majority of it..? After all, theyāre doing all the work.. its their product thats getting sold.. its them who do all the promotion..

not necessarily, no. people are minting open editions for a variety of reasons but one big one is this system of protocol rewards. its spurred a flywheel of minting if artists are concerned with capturing more value per mint, they don't need to use zora or protocol rewards

Imho artists are giving up a pretty big slice of the pie for something that doesnt do much First minter rewards and referral is not enough to justify giving up 2 thirds of the earnings The flywheel of minting you talk about doesnt happen that often and when it does, its because some big account shared it here or on twitter and not because of the protocol Just my point of view of course..

my push back would be - if this is the case why are artists minting on Zora? there are plenty of other options, no need to give up any fees to anyone. I think the answer is that Zora prioritizes helping users discover and mint OEs. their OE + protocol rewards benefits creators especially at scale, and creates positive flywheels for minting at a time when people are not minting or buying many NFTs period if you mint on zora expecting $3 profit per mint, you probably just shouldn't be minting on zora in the first place, no?

I think artists on FC are mostly minting on Zora cause it gives the best frame and allows people to mint super easily I understand what youāre saying very well, people should mint on Zora to try getting that āviral mintā The problem is.. some artists focus almost exclusively on Zora, never get the viral mint and leave quite a lot of money on the table, when it could have gone into their pockets Some are full time artists who depend on this.. you know.. Maybe they should just focus more on a platform that gives them the majority of the earnings and, occasionally, try the luck with the viral mint and give up a portion of the fees.
