Everyone’s calling their project an “AI Agent.”

But most of them are still fancy prompts with a few tools.

We need better language.

Here’s how I think about agent levels 🧵

Founder / CEO - @fantv, love Web3 ethos, established Web2 Founder, largest music streaming app India (175 mn+ users), Produced 250+ songs with 15 bn+ streams

🟪 Level 0: Prompt

Single question, single answer. No tools. No memory. Nothing to follow up on.

🟪 Level 1: Basic Bot

Feels like ChatGPT with a skin. Might pull from docs or search, but still waits for your instructions.

🟪 Level 4: Adaptive Agent

Learns over time. Updates its process.
Can build tools, rewrite plans, and improve as it works.

🟪 Level 3: Reasoning Agent

Thinks on the fly. Loops, decides next steps, tries again if needed.
Starts to feel like it's working with you.

🟪 Level 2: Tool-based Agent

Runs a fixed workflow. Uses tools like email, browser, calendar.
But every step is scripted ahead of time.
