Today was an outdoor walk/fiasco, she is just refusing, I wonder what do I do? She had a stress the other day when a car passed nearby (really freaked out) so I am wondering is it like humans when we are exposed to negative experience we have to have 7 positive association in order to neutralize the stress, what are your thoughts

Thanks this is really helpful, yes sounds like with my cats it will be a very very gradual process and you are right it is time to get her associate the backpack with safe space. Just imagine how much fun we will have when she starts exploring the nature around and the coastal panoramas

Hmmm. A couple ideas 
1) open the door to your balcony a a couple times a day (when on leash) and let your cat go if they want 
- my thesis here is that your cat will slowly go back out but at their own pace 

2) once acting fairly normal again, go downstairs and open your front door and let your cat go out if they want. Basically replace exploring the balcony with letting them go through the front door at their own pace.

3) try backpack rides. This was a great way for me to bring my cat outside the home and expose them to all the sounds while making sure that they always stay safe. Today my cat looks at its backpack as a safe haven no matter where we go.

This is my balcony, this was her behavior the first time I got her out on the balcony and then she relaxed and then she backtracked after a car incident. I think this made not two steps but 20 steps back. I was probably too adventurous to bring her out for 200 meters outside the house and there were 2 cars
