What’s the real difference between Cursor and Windsurf at this point?

They both seem to use the same models and feel totally interchangeable VS clones.

Is there a reason to use one over the other? Anyone have thoughts or firsthand experience?

No, I find it distracting. My workflow is becoming... 
If I'm in my editor, it's because I'm writing code myself. I don't want distractions from an AI agent.
If I want it written for me, I prefer to specify my requirement and leave the agent to get on with it.

I've moved on from both of them (also aider) these days. I'm finding I get better results for less effort with agentic solutions. Currently, I'm playing around with ampcode over Claude Code or Friday but that's largely because its PAYG charging works better for exploration.

Backend agents, and so far not hitting any limits in daily use for requests. I don’t know what the limits are but as of today (admittedly it’s only changed a few days ago) I’ve not had to think what $200 and 20x usage buys me. I’m sure they’re losing more vc dollars on this, but I like the vc subsidy

Which features of Cursor do you think are worth the $20?

Windsurf has swe-1 model for free usage. It is unique to them. It’s strangely quite good.

And at this point my $20 cursor is very good with this weeks upgrade.

Just subscribed to Cursor (I usually use Windsurf) but no differences so far

yup. vscode has the same features. i just use that.

Do you guys actually use the Agentic section features within the editors? 

I’ve tried them a few times but never found them useful. Has anything changed recently? My workflow tools are SuperTab (IDE), Chat (o3 or Opus), Cloude Code (which still feels like the killer feature)

Yes they did but it seems to have been resolved now

I heard but didn’t confirm that Anthropic pulled support for windsurf after the OpenAI acquisition
