The nineteenth-century sociologist Max Weber defined status as βan effective claim to social esteem in terms of positive or negative privileges.β He characterized it as a form of social access. what can web3 change in social access models?

In web3, it's easier for people to connect to others who share a compatible value system, because there is no (hierarchically imposed) social exclusion. When the plurality of value systems increases, positive social privileges can be more evenly distributed. (?)

true but, after all, the only way to get people to commit to governance models is still money, as evidenced by the failure of art curation DAOs. Doesn't this risk leading to a plutocracy? though?

Agree, those with big wallets have more access to distribution of ideas, leading to social privileges. The same for those with marketing budgets in web2. The difference is, I'm less obliged to consume shit I don't want to, because I have more control over my algo. A choice you don't have on insta, for example.
