I’ve poked around in the docs, but I’ve never built or run anything on Colabs—yet. Haven’t developed a use case/project where I couldn’t just run things locally.

I wonder if from one (or more) reference images (midjourney style:complexe layers) it is possible to make iterations (1000 ) with an AI. I'm thinking about GANs, I'm thinking that maybe there are online services that can do that? (like colab pro google) or does it require programming and running the AI locally?

Ah, yeah, if you have good GPU hardware, you can run Stable Diffusion locally to do stuff like that. Otherwise, Google Colab is a good option for running AI models. You can find more tutorials/walkthroughs online, but this should be a good start: https://github.com/nateraw/stable-diffusion-videos/discussions/160
