DonKi (Don Quixote) is the Best/Worst Store Ever Invented I have a love/hate relationship with DonKi. I love the mascot. The jingle is cute. I find all the things I don’t need in its crammed little isles. It’s a haven for tourists and I lose $50 each time I step inside. But sometimes, it overwhelms my brain and I end up hating every moment I’m trapped inside. Buyer beware. You may leave a part of your soul behind while hunting for the convenience of everything in one place. For the Americans, a DonKi is like if a Target, Walgreens, Bed Bath Beyond, an OG Sears, and a grocery store had a baby. Need a washing machine at 3 AM? Liquor? Skin care? Medicine? Green onions? A knife? New hair dryer? A futon for your unexpected guest? DonKi has your back. When I need to do a /skincare haul, I find myself here because the selection of masks and unbeatable and they have most major brands whereas many drug stores have a smaller selection. Here are some of my favorites.

Sunscreen DonKi has a great selection of sunscreen. Every drug store will have sunscreen but not all will have so many varieties of each brand. Especially the beloved Biore. The Purple Tone Up is my favorite and I rarely see it at Drug Stores anymore but always see it here. There are rarely testers out so you need to know what formulation you want. Most of the Biore is bad for dry skin or low humidity winters because of the alcohol in it. It has so much it’s illegal to ship to the US! But in the summer and high humidity, it’s amazing.

Hatomugi by Naturie. We don’t have this ingredient in the US. Job’s tears or Coix seed is great for all skin types. I mist this on my face in many layers and use it as a DIY sheet mask because it’s so cheap. DonKi even has their own line that’s even cheaper so you can definitely FAFO with this on a budget and have no regrets if you don’t love it. I’d bathe in it if I could. Their gel absorbs well and the sheet masks are great. Sometimes I can buy this in a giant refill bag. It’s also on Amazon for decent prices.

Most stores pay great attention to the quality of the materials on the shelves, as well as the way they are arranged, in order to increase their sales. We just have to decide which aisle to enter.
