Peaches are symbols of life, luck, and protection. Long ago in China they were called the fruit of immortality and used to chase away evil spirits. That belief crossed into Japan where peaches became charms of protection, safety, and renewal. During some Japanese festivals, peach blossoms are displayed for health and happiness, and in old rituals peach branches were placed to guard the home.
