Government's educate most of its citizens on history, therefore not much. For example, the Eastern Front in WW2 was 5% of my text book in school, and at least 50% of the real conflict.

Allot of our most promising startups get gobbled up early by US companies. Top talent get ensnared in the US system and when they become founders usually setup in the US. Elon Musk was in Montreal first. This is one minor part in a very large problem.
