Books

I'm going to Singapore for three days this week (too short, I know). I've never been there before. If you were to pick just one book about it, preferably non-fiction, what should I read on my flight over?

A few recommendations I've come across:

Building a little space at /thenextwave and watching everything on /videolab.

Applied AI, databases, data, vibe coding (sic.), open source, community/devrel, remote.

You must read Harry Lee Kuan Yew. He is amazing. As a second read if time permits, go for Cherian George’s book. 

Don’t forget to plan to eat a lot. And walk a lot. And remember it’s hot & humid so pack appropriately.

I’m with you. The economic/cultural rise of Singapore and its diplomatic strategy of non-alignment is all so fascinating to me.

You just reminded me how Singapore came up from a struggling nation to where it ranks today within decades. 

From third world to first looks like a title I'd definitely go with.

but if it’s ur first time and u like ice cream, u need to try this. spent a year and a half in singapore when i was a kid and this ice cream + their famous chicken and rice were my faves

I haven’t read it but watched the movie for these two:
