Our mayor invited me to a meeting to discuss Blue Zone certification for the town. I said I believe it’d be a waste of money and time that only benefits the certifying body. Our town has a deficit to fix first.

Perhaps I’m judging harshly. Does anyone here know about this? Or live in a “Blue Zone Community®”?

What's blue zone community?👀

A zone where people live longer, healthier lives. Famous examples include Okinawa, Japan and Ikaria, Greece. Now there’s an organization that certifies other communities as blue zones - with $ of course - and a lot of cities have pursued it for tourism/health reasons. That’s the part I’m skeptical about.
