What's the tradeoff though, how much gas does it take to verify sp1's proof on eth?

For a snark proof, that's about ~270k gas while a plonk proof costs a little more at ~300k gas. 🙂

But then, it's the verification part that really matters. 

As long as everyone else doesn't need the h100s to verify that proof and keep progressing the chain, then it's in fact, a good tradeoff and a viable path that Ethereum should explore.


zkVM still have hidden cost of actually zkvm, i've heard it takes multiple high end gpu like h100s for proving an ethereum block in real time.
