gpt is telling me that perp swaps were invented by bitmex in the 0-to-1 sense. i knew they were the first but always assumed they existed in traditional finance prior to that? of course right? trad finance has no concept of natively 24/7 markets.. mind is blown.

it’s weird cuz perps seem better for stocks and options better for crypto. but the simple fact of the market closing on nights and weekends has made it this way I guess…
