Elon is claiming that he's started a new political party called the America Party, and I'm all for it. It'll absolutely siphon votes off the Republicans... leaving the GOP with mainly its most extreme members, I imagine conservative tech bros will flock to Elon's party. I don't think it'll be good policy-wise... but if anything can break through the DNP/GOP stranglehold on US politics, it'll be tech money.

I do think it's most likely just talk.... Elon has promised so so so many things that have never happened... but I hope he's actually really doing this properly.

It's like Yang's idea, these third party ideas aren't going anywhere because they don't offer an alternative to the imperialist capitalism of the current duopoly. We already have a third party that's doing something different and more democratic - the Green Party.

It is funny that Elon could have supported the Green Party or the Libertarian Party but instead may throw his wealth, resources and connections behind a party he created. I think for the Green Party to be successful, they need to build support at the local -> regional -> state and then federal level, so they could actually get the votes to push policy... I imagine Elon will take a top down approach instead.

The Greens use a multifaceted approach where local and state candidates and chapters are encouraged and supported while the Party builds national structure, but they also have to run Presidential candidates in order to be on ballots because of the rules in many states.

Ah, that's awesome. I truly don't know much about the Greens but that definitely seems to be the best way to go. It takes so long and its so hard but the US HAS to break the political duopoly.
