i lived in vietnam for nearly a year, glad to talk about the clear and obvious issues, they are numerous and it didn't *feel* any less-capitalist than USA, except that some badly behaved billionaires actually faced consequences, sometimes.
almost the opposite, in fact, the corporatism is rampant there, there's like 5 property development companies that own like 70% of the housing complexes (and make up like 70% of the stock market), where they also control the schools, groceries, private security, shopping malls, movie theaters, etc, and at least one of those companies (vingroup) has branched out into also manufacturing the bulk of the locally sourced furniture, automobiles, cellphones, medical devices, etc etc etc, it feels like robocop, it's super dystopian. 0 reply
