love this, it's so fair and balanced, this is why i don't identify with most traditional leftist ideologies - just like capitalism "looks good on paper" but sucks hard in practice and late stage power dynamics, there's been significant failures in the implementation of socialist power structures that are too widespread to just ignore. marxist promises of equality and fairness are great but from what we've seen, even modern "success stories" like china and vietnam still struggle with rampant inequality and corruption, and wind up looking entirely too much like their capitalist counterparts.

we need new power structures, we need new governance, we need new tools for coordination, blockchain is the only path forward

i lived in vietnam for nearly a year, glad to talk about the clear and obvious issues, they are numerous and it didn't *feel* any less-capitalist than USA, except that some badly behaved billionaires actually faced consequences, sometimes.

almost the opposite, in fact, the corporatism is rampant there, there's like 5 property development companies that own like 70% of the housing complexes (and make up like 70% of the stock market), where they also control the schools, groceries, private security, shopping malls, movie theaters, etc, and at least one of those companies (vingroup) has branched out into also manufacturing the bulk of the locally sourced furniture, automobiles, cellphones, medical devices, etc etc etc, it feels like robocop, it's super dystopian.

I feel like this is discounting the success of anti corruption efforts in China and Vietnam but agree broadly about needing an evolved political structure anyway.

Bazinga 🔥🔥 I agree, blockchain offers radically democratic and efficient ways of managing a socialist economy with minimised risk of creating a bureaucratic class.

Lots of marxists can be very rhetorical which tbh I get why they are so pissed off at the current system. But 21st century problems requires 21st century solutions. Just like 20th century problems required 20th century solutions. 

We find ourselves equipped with more technology and communication tools than our ancestors could have dreamed of. They are probably rolling in their graves to see us not try something new at a bigger scale
